18-25 year olds, most of your friends who you've known for a long time, or people you just met?
Most of my friends that I have known for at least 4 years in many cases longer than 10. I've hardly made any friends in the past few years I have seen in college - maybe a few acquaintances University, a few old friendships re-ignited, but that's it. Is this normal or are most people are friends with new people much of the time? Have you ever met them and they have the same position of importance as an older friend, or is it always different? How long does it take to get close to someone? I would like to make new friends, but I am afraid that a slow process as it is too hard and they will all his old friends and not interested in someone new.
I think everything depends on the type of person you are too. I moved halfway across the world from Scotland to Sydney, Australia when I graduated high school and it is then you know who your real friends are. I always in touch with a few good friends but life goes on and ultimately it is up to you if you find other good friends in your area. I think that what happens in the middle school is that you are formed into one group or another and when you graduate you have to step back and assess your good friends, because you had much in common, or because you spent hours and hours in school and studying together. University / College is probably the easiest way to make new friends But you're right it is not difficult. Normally you will click with people immediately but sometimes you go for a drink with someone you are not sure about to be introduced to their friend who you click with. Limit yourself not because you think you are disloyal with old friends or because you think it too difficult to make new ones, so what if they are also old friends - friends you will expand your base. It is definitely lonely when you're on your own because you do not want to try. In short, never cease to make new friends, but can all the time it needs is a good night out and promise to get a cup of coffee to stay an interesting conversation.
